Ujamaa-Is this a common practice daily?

The fourth principle of Kwanzaa should not necessarily be a tradition solely on December 29 of every year. Cooperative Economics should be a natural daily practice within one’s culture.

Many people of  different Asian cultures for example, do not have to think twice about things such as where their families will purchase their produce or or even where they will acquire their legal advice. The community shares knowledge with each other and provides the services needed within. We find this same practice within the Orthodox Jewish community.  Their community daily has at their fingertips access to quality education and child-care for their children, the best kosher food for their family, high standards of law practices, medical services and banking.

Where does this come from? These standards are common practices that are brought here from many different cultures homeland, and when these immigrants come to the USA for a better way of life not only are they practicing this here, they are establishing wealth within their own communities.  In addition, they are turning large profits from communities that do not practice cooperative economics within their own communities (i.e. African- Americans)

Now there is nothing wrong with spending money in other communities. This helps the economy grow globally. Where it becomes a problem is when only pockets of  different areas practice this, and only parts of the community prosper.  If this becomes a way of life for all communities, our basic needs in personal, social, and environmental responsibilities will flourish.

Standards and quality of services and products will definitely need to change in many area in the US. Especially in African American society. Our belief in each other has to redevelop. Moreover, trust within ourselves and in our fellow man need to be re-established. We need to be willing to teach each other and learn from each other for these values to develop and grow for our business communities to prosper economically.
